Hanfeng Evergreen Closes Equity Private Placement

Hanfeng Evergreen Inc. raised $11 million in an equity private placement that closed in June 16, 2004, led by CIBC World Markets Inc. The deal featured cross-continental co-ordination and the use of a novel Quebec securities law exemption.

Hanfeng is the Canadian parent company of a Chinese group that is a leading supplier of landscape services and products for the urban greening and beautification market in China. Hanfeng’s business ranges from fertilizer production to projects such as landscaping the beach volleyball venue for the Beijing Olympics. To complete the deal in Quebec, Blakes obtained one of the first exemption orders extending the private placement accredited investor system to Quebec.
