Matt Cockburn will become managing partner at Torys LLP on April 1, 2020, following the exit, after 22 years, of Les Viner. Cockburn is a leading private equity lawyer and played a central role in building Torys’ private equity group, said Viner in a Torys press release. Cockburn has been on Torys’ executive committee for the last eight years. “I lead by example — I like to think of myself as a very hands-off person who is always there to support people and help them with the initiatives that they want to pursue,” Cockburn told Law Times.
