On November 23, 2004, Placer Dome Inc. completed a US$468 million offering of 21,275,000 common shares at US$22 per share. The offering was completed as an overnight marketed transaction, was priced the morning following the launch and was offered in Canada and the US pursuant to a short form prospectus and the Canada/US multi-jurisdictional disclosure system.
The transaction is the largest equity offering ever completed by a Canadian mining company and one of the largest equity offerings ever completed in British Columbia. Placer Dome will use the proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes, which may include funding of new project development and other capital expenditures.
The underwriting syndicate was co-led by CIBC World Markets Inc. and Scotia Capital Inc. and included Deutsche Bank Securities Ltd., HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc., Merrill Lynch Canada Inc., UBS Securities Canada Inc., BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., GMP Securities Ltd., National Bank Financial Inc. and Salman Partners Inc.
