Pulse Data Merges with VisuAide

On January 31, 2005, Pulse Data Investments Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of New Zealand-based Pulse Data International Ltd., completed its merger with VisuAide Inc., a Quebec- based company. The amount of the transaction is undisclosed.

Pulse Data is a leader in the design, manufacture and supply of infor-mation access solutions to blind and visually impaired people. VisuAide is a leading provider of digital audio book players for the print disabled.

Pulse Data was represented by Stikeman Elliott LLP with a team that consisted of Peter Castiel, Samantha Levy, Gayle Noble and John Segleski (corporate), Frédéric Harvey (tax), Patrick Essiminy and Mireille Bergeron (employment) and Eugene Derényi (intellectual property).

VisuAide and certain of its shareholders were represented by McCarthy Tétrault LLP with a team that included Peter Martin, Mireille Fontaine and Nathalie Forcier (corporate), Christian Robillard and Valérie Lemieux (intellectual property) and Ylang Ha and Luc Grenon (tax). Shahir Guindi of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP advised Desjardins Capital de risque, SEC, one of the shareholders of VisuAide.
