Alcatel's Genesys Acquires VoiceGenie Technologies Inc.

On May 4, 2006, Alcatel's Genesys acquired all of the outstanding shares of VoiceGenie Technologies Inc. VoiceGenie Technologies Inc. is a leader in voice self-service solutions, with a software platform based on Voice XML, an open standard used for developing self-service applications by both enterprises and carriers. The combination of both companies will make Alcatel's Genesys and its subsidiaries the undisputed leader in a fast-developing market that is expected to double in the next three years, with nearly one-fourth of the market. The value of the deal is confidential.
Alcatel was represented by Stikeman Elliott LLP, with a team that included Simon Romano, Lorna Cuthbert, Jill Lankin and Debbie Salzberger and by in-house counsel Thierry Duguay in Paris and Michael Stewart in Ottawa.
