Cynthia Rowden is counsel with Bereskin & Parr LLP. A lawyer and trademark agent, she specializes in all areas of trademark and copyright law, and manages international trademark portfolios of large Canadian companies and the Canadian portfolios of some of the biggest trademark owners in the world. She advises on selecting and protecting new marks, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and enforcement strategy. Cynthia is a former President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, has been a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA), and currently chairs INTA’s Canada subcommittee of the Legislation and Regulation Committee. She is actively involved in reviewing, commenting and presenting to the government on new trademark legislation and other charges to the Trademarks Act, and participates on several committees dealing with implementation of new Canadian trademark law. Cynthia is recognized as a Thought Leader by Who’s Who Legal, an elite Leading Lawyer in The Legal 500 Canada 2018 guides. She ranks among the top IP lawyers in Canada in The 2019 Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. She received the 2014 INTA President’s Award.
