Todd J. McCarthy is senior partner at Flaherty McCarthy LLP (Ontario), voted a Top 10 Insurance Defence Litigation Boutique Firm in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine since 2015. He has appeared in over 100 jury and non-jury trials, and a multitude of arbitrations and appeals. He is consistently called upon to deal with challenging and complex litigation, and has been at the forefront of seminal legal cases. Mr. McCarthy is one of the youngest lawyers in Ontario to have been certified as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He combines enduring professional commitment to client success with many contributions to the legal community, including instructing at the Trial Advocacy and Insurance Law courses at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, the Bar Admission Course, the Durham College Faculty of Justice and Emergency Services, and various advanced Ontario legal education programs. Mr. McCarthy has served as part-time deputy judge of the Superior Court of Justice for the Central East Region. He has served on a variety of Boards, including for The Advocates’ Society, and has been a candidate for Provincial Parliament in Ontario general elections. Mr. McCarthy attended Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1989.
