Hayden’s practice encompasses all aspects of real property transactions, including the purchase, sale and financing of commercial office complexes, retail shopping centres, residential apartment buildings, hotels, retirement homes and long-term residences, as well as secured lending. He has extensive experience in joint venture structuring, portfolio acquisitions, financings and restructurings (both for lending syndicates and corporate borrowers), and also practices corporate commercial law, with an emphasis on the acquisition or privatization of public real estate enterprises and capital markets transactions. He has advised on a wide range of transactions for both private and public companies and REITs. Hayden is recognized as a leading lawyer in real estate by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal, Expert Guides and Lexpert®. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (Toronto NAIOP). Hayden has presented at a number of seminars for the CBA and the ICSC, covering such topics as drafting commercial leases, landlord enforcement rights and other real estate related issues.
