Nigel is past co-Chair of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group. His principal area of practice is securities and corporate/commercial litigation, but he also has extensive experience in administrative law and has developed a national investment dealer, broker and capital markets practice. He appears before all levels of courts in Canada and before provincial securities commissions and other securities regulatory organizations throughout Canada. Nigel was law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada before joining Blakes and later became assistant legal counsel to the Estey Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of the Canadian Commercial Bank and Northland Bank, as well as senior investigation counsel for the Ontario Securities Commission. He frequently speaks and writes on matters that affect his practice areas including the presentation of a special lecture for the prestigious The Law Society of Upper Canada special lectures and guest-lecturing at the China Judges Association in Beijing.
