Alex helps guide clients through complex commercial disputes and during times of crisis by developing business-focused, outcome-driven legal solutions. She has considerable experience in contested merger transactions, take-over bids, shareholder activism, dissent proceedings and contractual disputes and has appeared at all levels of Court in Canada and arbitral tribunals. Her crisis management experience includes advising companies in connection with cyber breaches, regulatory investigations around the world and sensitive internal investigations. She uses her knowledge as a Certified Fraud Examiner to investigate fraud and accounting irregularities, including in connection with violations of anti-bribery and anti-corruption legislation and also assists regularly with whistleblower claims. She has significant experience working on behalf of financial institutions, mining, resource, health sciences and technology companies. Alex is an active supporter of pro bono legal initiatives and also speaks and publishes extensively on subjects including corporate governance, organizational culture, fraud, asset recovery and crisis response. She is the Chair of the Diversity Committee of Blakes Vancouver office and also contributes regularly to training and mentoring initiatives.

On September 30, 2015, BSM Technologies Inc. and Webtech Wireless Inc. completed the previously announced transaction by way of a court approved plan of arrangement under the Business Corporations Act (British Columbia). Pursuant to the plan of arrangement, Webtech has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of BSM and all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Webtech were transferred to BSM in consideration for the issuance by BSM of 2.136 common shares of BSM and a cash payment of $0.52 for each Webtech share.
