National practice group leader of BLG's Financial Services Group. Acts for lenders and borrowers in connection with commercial and corporate loans to public and private borrowers. Many of these loans are syndicated and are often cross-border. Practice also includes regulatory advice to financial institutions, agency work on structured finance transactions, as well as general corporate commercial transactions. Member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers. Member of the Solicitors Legal Opinions Committee of British Columbia. Former Adjunct Professor at University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law from 1996 to 1999. Instructor for the professional legal training course of the BC Law Society for nearly 20 years. Past chair of the banking law subsection of the BC branch of the CBA. Co-editor of the British Columbia Personal Property Security Act Practice Manual. Has written on such subjects as the BC Personal Property Security Act, BC Securities Transfer Act, Canadian Bank Act and inspection of corporate records. Received his BComm (Hons.) from the University of British Columbia in 1984, and his LLB from University of Toronto in 1987. Called to the British Columbia Bar in 1988.
