Provides advice concerning international and interprovincial trade obligations, including assisting clients participating in trade negotiations, advising on the international and domestic legal consistency of existing measures or proposed legislative action, preparing cases for dispute settlement under intergovernmental agreements and advising on all manner of domestic laws applicable to investment and trade in goods and services (trade remedies, import and export controls, economic and trade sanctions, investment controls). Advises on all aspects of Canada’s Investment Canada Act and Competition Act, including, in particular, pre-merger notification and merger clearance.
