Kent Howie is a lawyer and a chartered professional accountant (CPA), having begun his career with a Big 4 accounting firm. Kent practises business law out of BLG’s Toronto and Calgary offices. He acts for a broad range of international, national and local clients in the energy, infrastructure and electricity sectors, with a particular focus on the development of new, or the acquisition of existing, large projects, often developed by way of joint ventures. He has acted as lead counsel with respect to a number of electricity projects, including large hydro, coal, natural gas, solar, wind and geothermal projects in various parts of Canada. Kent also has experience as project counsel advising clients on legal matters related to large liquefied natural gas, pipeline, natural gas storage, refinery/upgrader, and offshore oil projects. Kent was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995 and the Alberta Bar in 2005.
