Alan Monk has practised mining law, corporate/commercial law, and securities law for over 20 years. He has a broad-based corporate & commercial practice, which has included private placer operations and quarries to publicly-listed exploration, development and production companies. Alan has extensive experience in negotiating, drafting and advising on agreements used in the exploration and mining industry, including option, joint venture, confidentiality, and royalty agreements. In addition, Alan advises on the purchase and sale of mining properties and prepares legal opinions or reports in respect of mineral tenures and water licences. He also acts for purchasers or sellers in transactions including the purchase and sale of companies and assets. His securities practice includes public and private financings (both brokered and non-brokered), initial public offerings, and advising on various securities and corporate law requirements, including corporate governance and continuous disclosure (including National Instrument 43–101). In addition, Alan advises on TSX and TSX Venture Exchange compliance. Since 2009, Alan has been an Adjunct Professor of Mining Law at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia.
