Donovan & Company practises exclusively in the area of Aboriginal Law. The firm represents First Nations and their members in litigation (including residential schools litigation), negotiations and corporate commercial matters. Allan Donovan’s work consists primarily of Aboriginal litigation, specific claims, assisting First Nations in their negotiations with government and industry, and assisting First Nations in treaty negotiations. He has represented First Nations in litigation at all levels of the Canadian court system, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also appeared as counsel before the Indian Claims Commission and the Specific Claims Tribunal. Allan served as a law clerk for the Honourable Madam Justice Wilson at the Supreme Court of Canada. LLM (Cambridge), LLB (Calgary), MA (Toronto), BA (Manitoba). Allan Donovan has published numerous articles addressing various aspects of Aboriginal law. Called to the Bar in 1989. Allan and his wife, Mona, established the Nicaragua Children’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to the enhancement of educational opportunities for children in Nicaragua.
