Tony’s business law practice is focused on competition law, foreign investment law and general corporate and commercial matters. He is the Co-Leader of the firm’s Antitrust/Competition & Marketing Law Group. In his competition law practice, Tony provides advice and representation in relation to mergers, criminal matters, and other restrictive trade practices. Tony assists clients in clearing merger transactions through the Canadian Competition Bureau and through Canada’s foreign investment review regime. He also advises companies on how to structure business arrangements and trade practices to avoid competition law problems. A recognized expert on foreign investment controls (including those pertaining to national security), Tony advises foreign enterprises on the application of the Investment Canada Act when establishing a new business, or acquiring an existing businesses in Canada. Tony is the past Chair of both the Foreign Investment Review Committee and the Mergers Committee of the CBA Competition Law Section. Tony regularly advises clients in relation to general corporate and commercial matters including establishing their businesses in Canada, negotiated transactions; corporate reorganizations and supply and distribution arrangements.
