Leonard Finegold has specialized in the area of construction law for more than 35 years. His areas of expertise include construction liens, contract development and negotiation, breach of trust claims, delay claims, occupational health & safety issues, mediation, arbitration and litigation. As a former Director of Legal & Labour Relations for Ellis-Don Construction Ltd., Executive Legal Counsel to a large mining multi-national mining company, and in-house counsel to a major mechanical/electrical subcontractor, Leonard often acts as a sounding board to senior construction executives. Leonard’s broad experience in the private sector has also given him critical skills in navigating complex legalities in all areas of construction related matters. Leonard is a Founding Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and a former co-chairman of the General Contractors Section of the Toronto Construction Association. He is a frequent speaker and noted author on construction law issues for industry and legal professionals. Leonard was a co-editor for A Handbook for Executives Construction Act of Ontario, published in the Fall of 2018 by the Ontario General Contractor’s Association respecting the 2018-2019 amendments to the Construction Lien Act.
