Having stepped down at the end of 2015 after nine years as the managing partner of the Calgary office of Gowling WLG, Ken carries on a civil dispute resolution practice with particular emphasis on corporate commercial disputes (including shareholder disputes, directors’ and officers’ liability and securities issues) and professional liability defence for doctors, lawyers and real estate agents. He appears regularly before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal of Alberta, and has also appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. Ken recognizes the uncertainty and expense that is inherent in the formal litigation process and strives to assist his clients in controlling the outcome by finding creative and commercially sensible solutions to disputes. He has a keen interest in mediation and arbitration as mechanisms for dispute resolution and completed the Harvard Mediation Workshop. Ken is ranked as Repeatedly Recommended in the area of Directors' & Officers' Liability and Corporate Commercial Litigation by The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory. He has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada and Benchmark Litigation.
