Mark McHughan is a partner at Gowling WLG and is the former head of the Toronto real estate, environmental and urban development department as well as the former leader of the National Real Estate Practice Group. Mark’s practice focuses on commercial real estate matters with an emphasis on acquisitions and divestitures of individual properties and portfolios, including office, retail, industrial, multi-residential and hotels. His practice also includes extensive involvement in commercial leasing; management agreements; joint venture structures; construction and development; and innovative structuring of infrastructure projects. Marks acts for many foreign and domestic investors with respect to significant Canadian real estate developments. Mark represents many landlords and tenants ranging from single location landlords and tenants to tenants with hundreds of locations and landlords owning large multi-tenant commercial, industrial and retail projects. Mark is currently a member of Canadian Bar Association, International Council of Shopping Centres and the American Bar Association. Mark has presented at a variety of real estate conferences.
