Nicolas Cayouette is partner in Gowling WLG’s Montréal office and has been a member of the Litigation & Dispute Group since 2007. His practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, insurance law and manufacturer’s liability, as well as environmental and construction law. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnique Montréal. Nicolas has developed a specialized expertise in complex and technical disputes, namely in the areas of engineering and construction and requiring the intervention of experts acting in various fields. Most notably, he has experience advising companies on various subjects regarding the development and design of mechanical and structural components, especially in the areas of wind energy and aeronautics. He also acts for engineers in civil litigation matters. Over the course of his career, Nicolas has participated in many international arbitrations, including one conducted under the International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Rules. Nicolas was directly involved in the Private public Partnership infrastructure sector and he represented and advised important players during major projects such as the Major Rehabilitation of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel and the completion of the A 30 PPP Completion in Québec.
