Richard Grant is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office and global head of the firm’s Oil & Gas practice and Co-Lead of the Africa team. He assists clients in the energy and natural resources industries on matters including transactions, finance, ownership rights, acquisition, access, divestiture, due diligence, joint ventures, participation agreements, partnerships, international production sharing contracts and other host government negotiations. Richard has been involved in projects pertaining to integrated gas to power, upstream concession and pipelines, Aboriginal joint ventures, renewables and LNG. Richard has extensive experience with First Nation matters, Aboriginal and community relations, corporate social responsibility programs and foreign government capacity building. He is a frequent speaker and Panel moderator at various African Energy and Oil & Gas forums and conferences. Richard also regularly presents papers on “Getting to ‘Yes’ By Partnering with Indigenous Communities”, “Beyond Consultation” and “Effective Aboriginal Joint Ventures” at Energy and Resources Industry and Indigenous conferences and forums. Richard has a Juris Doctor degree and was called to the Alberta bar in 1983.
