Jason advises clients on all aspects of competition law, including mergers, strategic alliances/joint ventures, unilateral conduct, cartel investigations and compliance. He regularly navigates clients through Canadian Competition Bureau investigations. He has been involved in the negotiation of complex remedies and orders with the Competition Bureau and before the Competition Tribunal in the context of both mergers and cartel investigations. Jason also advises clients with respect to misleading advertising and unfair competition practices. He advises foreign purchasers and Canadian vendors under the Investment Canada Act (ICA) and represents clients before the Investment Review Division of Industry Canada and the Cultural Sector Investment Review branch of Canadian Heritage. Significant matters include: IOL’s divestiture of its Canadian gasoline retail business; ChemChina/Syngenta; Suncor/Canadian Oil Sands; Johnson Electric/Stackpole; Continental/Veyance; Air Canada/United (TBJV); CNOOC/Nexen; Marine Harvest/Grieg; Sinopec/Daylight Energy; J&J/Synthes; Continental/United; Sinopec/ConocoPhillips (Syncrude); and Suncor/Petro-Canada.
