Randy leads the firm’s pension, benefits and executive compensation practice. He has national and international experience, including as lead counsel to the appointed administrator of the Canadian Nortel pension plans. He provides advice to Canadian and foreign governments on changes to pension and social security legislation. Recent activity includes merging and dividing pension and other benefit plans; devising pension investment structures; advising on governance matters, including governance policy and investment policy development; advising the United Nations and clients on ESG compliance; reviewing and drafting plan documents, including plan texts, trust agreements, amendments, and contracts with service providers. Randy brings a practical perspective as he is also a corporate director and a trustee of Canada’s largest Employer Life and Health Trust. He is a frequent speaker both in and outside of Canada and active in many national and international associations, including being a past chair of the International Pension & Employee Benefits Lawyers Association. He is highly ranked by several international legal directories, including Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers in Canada.
