Matthew Halpin is Ottawa chair of our Litigation Group. His practice includes corporate and commercial litigation, insurance, restructuring and insolvency, real estate disputes, property assessment, arbitration, dispute resolution, environmental and trust litigation, and administrative tribunal work. He frequently acts in restructuring matters under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. He has acted as counsel in numerous Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) files, including ad hoc arbitrations and mediations. He has international experience before the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration. He has completed courses with Stitt Feld Handy, obtaining certificates from the University of Windsor Law in ADR and Advanced ADR Workshops. Mr. Halpin has appeared before all levels of the Ontario provincial courts, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Federal Court of Canada and the Ontario Assessment Review Board. Fluently bilingual, he pleads cases in both English and French. Mr. Halpin is also a member of The Law Society of Nunavut.
