Jana is a partner in Osler’s Pensions and Benefits Group. Jana has market-leading experience advising on the implementation and ongoing administration of the shared risk pension design, a type of target benefit model. She advises on pension risk management and is a leader regarding innovative plan designs. Jana has extensive experience advising on pension matters in corporate transactions, insolvencies, and restructurings. Clients have included universities, governments, municipalities, unions, multinational corporations, boards of trustees, and multi-employer pension plans. Jana has published articles in numerous publications, including Canadian Labour & Employment Law Journal, Pension Investment Association of Canada's Communiqué, Benefits Canada magazine, The Globe & Mail, the Estates, Trusts and Pensions Journal, and the Canadian Tax Journal. Jana has co-authored two reports for the CD Howe Institute on target benefit plans. She has written and spoken extensively on issues facing pension plans and their sponsors, has guest lectured at numerous universities on pension matters, and has been interviewed as a pension expert on television, radio, and in print.
