Jeremy Want is a partner in Smart & Biggar’s Ottawa office. With over 20 years of experience in IP litigation, he has participated in many successful patent cases (including pharmaceuticals), trademarks and copyrights. Clients benefit from his involvement at all stages – investigating, preparing and protecting IP interests in order to effectively minimize their risk and successfully defend their interests. In his IP litigation practice, Jeremy regularly represents clients before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and has also successfully argued cases before the Trademarks Opposition Board. He speaks regularly on issues relating to the Canadian patent system and patent litigation in Canada, including presentations for the Law Society of Ontario and Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), and has authored and co-authored a number of papers and practice guides, including the "Canadian" chapters of Chambers Global Practice Guides and Practical Law.
