Edward Waitzer is a partner and head of the Corporate Governance Group. His practice focuses on complex business transactions and advising clients in respect of various public policy and governance matters. Ed was Chair of the firm from 1999 to 2006. He has served as Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission (and of the Technical Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions) and as Vice President of The Toronto Stock Exchange. He has written and spoken extensively on a variety of legal and public policy issues. Ed was Chair of the Strategy Working Party, a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Task Force on Standard Setting, a public Director of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, a member of the Independent Review Panel on the Comptrollership Function in Canada, and Chair of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. Ed has been the Falconbridge Professor of Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and holds the Jarislowsky Dimma Mooney Chair in Corporate Governance, a Director of the Hennick Centre for Business and Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business at York University, an inaugural Fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel, and a Senior Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute.
