Robert Colson is a partner and a founding member of Teplitsky, Colson LLP. Mr. Colson was called to the Ontario Bar in 1979 and has been certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Civil Litigation since 1997. He obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1977. Mr. Colson's commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice includes the resolution of complex employment claims for senior executives and employees in senior roles in the financial services industry. In addition to acting on employment matters, he regularly provides counsel for clients and acts in shareholder and partnership disputes, land-related litigation, breach of contract claims, oppression remedy cases, and professional negligence claims, amongst others. Mr. Colson has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario and before administrative tribunals. He has served as an arbitrator and mediator for the Government of Ontario in connection with disputes between teachers and school boards under collective agreements. Mr. Colson was lead counsel for the plaintiff in Schumacher v. Toronto Dominion Bank and is responsible for the landmark decision that, at the time, was the largest ever awarded to a wrongfully dismissed employee in Canada.
