Michael McLaren is a partner working out of the Vancouver and Toronto offices of Thorsteinssons LLP. His practice focuses on corporate and international tax planning. He regularly advises Canadian and foreign-based multi-national groups on a variety of matters, including inbound and outbound investment and financing, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, domestic and cross-border spin-offs, restructurings, and natural resource taxation. On March 13, 2015, Goldcorp completed its $526 million acquisition of Probe Mines Limited by way of a plan of arrangement. Probe’s principal asset is the 100 per cent-owned Borden Gold project located near Chapleau, Ontario.
