Caroline Abela’s strength is complex business litigation and estates and trust litigation. Her trusts and estates practice includes will challenges, guardianships, and dependents' relief matters, and highly complements her commercial practice which includes fraud claims, dealing with privately held family businesses, oppression, and other commercial disputes. She is a current director of The Advocates’ Society (TAS), past chairwoman of the TAS estates litigation practice group, past chairwoman of the OBA’s trusts and estates law section, and a past co-chairwoman of the international private client committee of the ABA’s section of international law. She was also the national representative of Canada for the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA). She has been an adjunct professor at Western University's law school and is a regular instructor on advocacy topics. She is a contributing author to a loose-leaf book regarding electronic documents and e-discovery. She is repeatedly recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading lawyer in corporate and commercial litigation, and was recognized in 2023 as a leading lawyer in trusts and estates. She has been ranked as a national leader by Who’s Who Legal in asset recovery. She is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
