Bernice Karn is a partner whose practice is focused on the areas of information technology (IT), licensing, and cybersecurity/privacy law. A Certified Licensing Professional, she advises clients across a wide range of industries including retailers, e-commerce companies, hospitals, universities, and Canadian financial institutions. Bernice has significant experience with outsourcing matters and regularly advises clients on the acquisition and disposition of IT assets and intellectual property rights. She is extremely knowledgeable in the area of IT-related agreements and has expertly crafted master services, joint venture, development, licence, escrow, consulting, and cloud computing/SaaS agreements for her clients. Through her numerous mandates in IT and outsourcing matters for financial institutions, Bernice has developed a particularly strong understanding of the regulatory framework within which financial institutions must conduct outsourcing business. She is the director of IT – Canada and is also recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global and The Legal 500. Bernice was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986.
