Cameron (Cam) Mingay is a senior partner. He practises in the areas of securities, mining, and commercial law with an emphasis on public offerings, M&A, and corporate reorganizations. Cam has also been involved in advising companies in the cannabis sector regarding going public, particularly US companies wishing to access the Canadian capital markets. He recently turned his focus to generating recommendations to improve ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) practices in Canada and has co-authored several papers with proposals to transform the risk of climate change into a Canadian opportunity. Cam has extensive experience representing companies and investment dealers in all manner of public and private securities transactions. Cam has acted as lead counsel for a number of public clients and served as counsel to a number of investment dealers on corporate finance matters. He has frequently acted as lead counsel on cross-border transactions. Cam has served as a director for a number of companies listed on the TSX, NYSE, NASDAQ, and AIM, and as a director of the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Ontario). He is recognized as a leading lawyer by Best Lawyers and was awarded the 2011 Lexpert Zenith Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. Cam was called to the Ontario Bar in 1982.
On July 10, 2015, Newmarket Gold Inc. (Newmarket) and Crocodile Gold Corp. (Crocodile Gold) combined by way of a court approved plan of arrangement under the <i>Business Corporations Act (Ontario)</i>, creating a new gold industry consolidator solidly positioned to acquire high quality gold assets in the world’s most desirable mining jurisdictions. The combined entity has been named Newmarket Gold Inc. and its common shares are trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the new symbol “NMI”. The transaction is valued at approximately $185 million.
