Carmen Thériault, QC, leads the firm’s Canadian Private Wealth Team. Her Vancouver group is a past recipient of the STEP international "Private Client Legal Team of the Year" award, mid-size firm category, which recognizes professional excellence among lawyers advising families across generations on private client matters. Carmen has extensive experience in estate planning, estate and trust administration, charitable giving and related litigation. She is skilled in particular in providing succession and governance advice to individuals and families with significant private and public company interests and other legacy assets intended to benefit multiple generations. Her experience extends to the establishment, funding and administration of all manner of trusts, including discretionary family trusts, spousal trusts, alter ego trusts, joint partner trusts, First Nation trusts and trusts for commercial purposes. She's a frequent lecturer for many organizations, including Canadian Bar Association, Canadian Tax Foundation, STEP, CLEBC, CBA, and ACTEC. She is also a member of the firm’s Canadian Partnership Committee and its Global Supervisory Board.
