Courtney is a partner in Dentons’ Calgary office, where she practises in the energy, corporate, and derivatives risk management and regulatory compliance sectors. Her practice focuses on energy and commercial transactions, including asset and share acquisitions and dispositions. Courtney has extensive experience negotiating and drafting energy-related agreements, commercial agreements and implementing corporate reorganizations. She advises a variety of public and private companies on energy trading matters, including negotiating physical and financial commodity trading transactions, providing advice on Canadian derivatives regulation and compliance matters, and assisting with cross-border energy derivatives compliance issues. In addition to her accomplished law practice, in 2018, Courtney was elected the Canada Region representative for Women LEAD, Dentons’ global women’s affinity group focused on supporting and building the success of women in the Firm. To this role, Courtney brings extensive leadership capabilities and a steadfast commitment to the advancement of women, both within the Firm and the legal community. She is active in numerous women’s initiatives, which will facilitate her ability to excel in this role and provide sage contributions to this important program.
