François Painchaud specializes in business law applied to key technology sectors. He is frequently involved in the negotiation and drafting of complex transactions related to technology transfers and joint ventures and in commercial and corporate law, including creation of consortiums, venture capital and mergers & acquisitions. He was named Lawyer of the Year 2014 – Information Technology in Montréal by Best Lawyers and was also named Technology Transfer Lawyer of the Year in Canada by the Corporate INTL Magazine Global Awards, and he is a member of the Intellectual Asset Management's Leading 300 IP Strategists. Called to the Québec Bar in 1986, François Painchaud has been a partner at Robic for more than 25 years. He is a past president of the LES USA and Canada Inc. Since 2011, he has been counsel, corporate secretary, and a member of the Board of the LES International and is now Past-President of LES International. François is Corporate Secretary to the Québec Consortium for Drug Development (CQDM) and CATALIS Québec, both leading organizations in the Canadian life science ecosystem. He is also President of the Cancer Research Society and Director of other not-for-profit organizations.
