Greg P. Shannon, QC is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office and a member of the firm’s M&A and Private Equity Groups as well as its Tax and Private Client Services Group. Called to the Bars in Alberta, British Columbia, the District of Columbia, and California, he has worked in both Canada and the US and uses his significant cross-border experience to inform his practice. His experience includes acting as counsel on corporate reorganizations, international transactions, M&A transactions, and corporate finance matters, and advising clients on tax, trust, corporate governance/special committee, and D&O insurance matters. He has extensive experience in tax matters, inbound/outbound deals, mortgage investment corporations, and flow-through share financings for "Clean Energy" issuers. Greg also has a substantial tax and private client practice. A certified ICDD director, he was a director of various public and private companies and non-profits. He received his Queen's Counsel designation in 2009 and received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. He has been regularly recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, has received his QArb designation, and is an International Fellow of ACTEC. He is a well-regarded speaker on M&A, cross-border tax, and private client matters.
