Has been involved in over 400 trials and arbitrations and has extensive experience arguing matters on appeal. Has acted in numerous insolvency and restructuring proceedings, including numerous cross-border restructurings. Experience also includes acting as lead counsel in trials and arbitrations in the fields of corporate and shareholder disputes, banking, engineering, oil & gas, contractual, patent, and seismic data disputes. Appointed Queen's Counsel in 2010. Elected as a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada in 2010. Recognized as Insolvency and Financial Restructuring Law Lawyer of the Year – Calgary in the 2019 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada. Recognized since 2009 in The Best Lawyers in Canada (Corporate and Commercial Litigation and Insolvency and Financial Restructuring Law). Called to the Alberta Bar in 1999. On February 13, 2007, Harbinger Capital Partners Master Fund I, Ltd. and Harbinger Capital Partners Special Situations Fund, L.P. through their indirect wholly owned subsidiary HCP Acquisition Inc. (together, Harbinger) acquired all of the outstanding trust units of Calpine Power Income Fund (the fund) it did not already own at a price of $13.00 per trust unit for total consideration of approximately $760 million.
