A partner in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, Ken Warren is a litigator with 35 years of experience in corporate commercial disputes (including shareholder disputes, directors’ & officers’ liability, and securities issues), professional liability defence (doctors, lawyers, and real estate agents), and executive employment law. Ken served as head of the firm’s Calgary office’s advocacy department for six years and as its office managing partner for nine years. He appears regularly before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal of Alberta and has also appeared before the SCC. Ken respects the uncertainty and expense inherent in the formal litigation process and prides himself in providing advice that is cost-effective and strategic. He has a keen interest in mediation and arbitration as mechanisms for dispute resolution. Ken has acted as counsel in both domestic and international arbitrations and completed the Harvard Mediation Workshop in 2000. He has been recognized in Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, The Best Lawyers in Canada, and Benchmark Litigation. Ken became a Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta in 2018, was a member of its executive committee 2019–2021, and is currently President.
