Marie is the head of the Utilities and Rates Practice Group, and a member of the Regulatory and Environmental Practice Group and the Energy and Oil & Gas Industry Team. Her practice focuses on providing strategic advice on federally and provincially regulated oil, gas, and electricity matters. She advises on a wide variety of complex regulatory matters including tolls and tariffs, energy developments and facilities approvals, jurisdictional issues, compliance requirements, Indigenous matters, pipeline access, and energy imports and exports. She regularly appears before the Canada Energy Regulator, Alberta Utilities Commission, and Alberta Energy Regulator, and has also appeared before the Occupational Health and Safety Tribunal Canada and Alberta Surface Rights Board. In addition, she advocates for clients before the Alberta Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada on related appeal matters. Marie has assisted in the preparation of numerous publications and blogs, most recently with respect to the nascent hydrogen economy, revisions to the CER's pipeline and power line regulations, the Federal Court's dismissal of challenges to the approval of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, and Alberta's new Proponent Guide to First Nations and Metis Settlements Consultation.
