Mervyn D. Abramowitz is a partner with Blaney McMurtry LLP in Toronto. He acts for clients in the areas of commercial insolvency, restructuring, and commercial litigation. With more than 30 years of experience, sharp insights, and a proven track record, Mervyn is regularly sought out by businesses and law firms across Canada, the US, and elsewhere to represent them and their clients’ needs. He represents all manner of stakeholders and court-appointed officers, including monitors, trustees, receivers, and liquidators, in proceedings in and out of court, always seeking to craft a solution that best serves the client. He has experience in a wide variety of business sectors, including retail, hi-tech, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and international transportation. Mervyn is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in both Insolvency and Restructuring and Commercial Litigation, and is a past Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Insolvency Law Section and the Ontario Bar Association’s Civil Litigation Section. For many years, Mervyn was also a member of the Commercial List Users’ Committee, a bench and Bar committee focused on the workings of Toronto’s Commercial List court, that specializes in insolvency and commercial litigation.
