One of Canada’s leading litigators and a frequent lecturer, Peter has a broad civil litigation and administrative law practice encompassing cross-border commercial disputes, complex cross-border restructuring and insolvency cases, class actions and securities matters, as well as professional malpractice litigation and disciplinary proceedings. He was counsel to the Government of Canada in the litigation and related insolvency proceedings around the tobacco smuggling, which yielded the largest civil settlement in Canadian history. Peter also advises boards of directors of public and private companies and special committees on governance, cross-border litigation and insolvency proceedings. He has helped oversee the restructuring of some of Canada’s largest companies. Peter is also Chair to The Advocates’ Society Modern Advocacy Task Force, which seeks to advance the reform of the Canadian justice system in light of COVID-19.
