Peter Choe, a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office, is an IP litigator with extensive experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and industrial design litigation. Peter has appeared before the trial and appellate levels of the Federal and the Ontario Courts. He has an honours degree in engineering physics and, prior to joining the firm, he worked as a design engineer in the area of cryogenics and biomagnetic imaging equipment. He also worked in Seoul in the IP department of South Korea's largest law firm and in the legal department of Samsung. His experience covers a variety of technologies and industries, including computer software, wireless hardware, electrical appliances, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and in retail and financial services. Peter has served as Head of the firm’s Toronto IP department and co-Chair of its national IP Litigation Practice Group. He is a frequent lecturer and has taught advanced IP classes at Western University Law School and served on the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law’s Working Group in IP. Peter is a Fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, was a founding director of the Korean-Canadian Lawyers Association, and is currently on the board of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, where he serves as vice-president.
