Having earned his reputation as a leading litigator in intellectual property and then as CEO of Gowlings, Scott now focuses on providing strategic and practical guidance on legal and business matters facing our clients. Drawing on more than 40 years of experience, Scott serves as a mediator in intellectual property and technology disputes. He often speaks on matters relating to intellectual property, legal ethics, conflicts of interest, diversity & inclusion, the business of law and law firm leadership. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Louis St-Laurent Award for Excellence granted by the Canadian Bar Association and the Lexpert Zenith Award for Demonstrated Excellence, Action and Thought Leadership that have advanced diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. For 20 years, Scott was the National Managing Partner, CEO and Chair of Gowlings, now known worldwide as Gowling WLG. Scott has also been involved in senior leadership with the Canadian Arab Business Council and the Canada-Africa Chamber of Business, organizations dedicated to facilitating and expanding trade and investment between Canada the Arab and African worlds.
