Ranjan Agarwal is a partner at Bennett Jones LLP. His practice includes complex commercial disputes, class action, constitutional law, employment, and appellate litigation. Ranjan litigates a wide array of commercial cases, ranging from class action, investment treaty and commercial arbitration matters, and employment disputes, to human rights and professional regulation. He also advises companies, individuals, and regulators on sensitive investigations. Ranjan is a well-known civil rights and constitutional litigator. His cases have ranged across religious liberty, freedom of speech, equality rights, and federalism. Ranjan has appeared in almost 20 appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada, and regularly appears on matters in courts and arbitrations across Canada. In 2022, Ranjan will be President of the Ontario Bar Association. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, and co-author of Class Actions Law and Practice. Ranjan is also Past President of the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto, one of North America’s largest diverse bar associations. Among other recognitions, Precedent Magazine, the Canadian Bar Association, and the OBA have recognized him for his pro bono and community service.
