Will Cascadden is a partner at Gowling WLG’s Calgary office. He represents employers in a range of sectors including oil & gas, oilfield services, utilities, financial institutions, government, and not-for-profit organizations. He advises and represents clients in a number of employment and related matters, including human rights, employee disability, terminations, labour relations, hiring, union certification drives, collective bargaining, policy development, group dismissals, employment issues in mergers & acquisitions, and all manner of lawsuits and legal proceedings. Will represents clients in arbitrations and before boards such as human rights tribunals, collective agreement arbitrations, and labour relations boards. He also appears as counsel before the Superior Courts and Courts of Appeal of Alberta and British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court of Canada. Will teaches Employment Law at the University of Calgary Law School and has authored several books, including Strategies for Litigators in Alberta,Employment Standards in British Columbia, and the Labour Relations Code Practitioner's Manual. He has been recognized in Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, and The Best Lawyers in Canada, and was named an Acritas Star in 2019 and 2020.
On May 31, 2017, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (Canadian Natural) completed two previously announced agreements to acquire oil sands assets from Shell Canada Energy, Shell Canada Ltd. and Shell Canada Resources (Shell) and, with a subsidiary of Shell, to jointly acquire Marathon Oil Canada Corp. (MOCC).
