Jason Madden, Pape Salter Teillet LLP

Aboriginal Law Jason Madden is Co-managing partner of Pape Salter Teillet LLP and a citizen of the Métis Nation. He specializes in Indigenous rights law with an emphasis on litigation, consultation and accommodation-related matters, as well as the negotiation and implementation of modern-day treaties. Madden has appeared in all Supreme Court of Canada cases dealing with Métis legal issues over the last 15 years. In 2016, he represented the Métis National Council before the Supreme Court of Canada in Daniels v. Canada, which confirmed that the Métis are included as “Indians” within section 91(24) of the Constitution Act, 1867 and fall within Parliament’s exclusive legislative authority.
