Geoff Shaw is a partner with significant experience in the resolution of franchise law disputes through trial, appeal, mediation, or arbitration. He has been lead counsel on a number of important decisions and is regularly retained to defend franchisors in class actions. Geoff is a frequent speaker at international franchise law seminars and contributes as an author to a number of industry publications. He is an active member of the Canadian Franchise Association (Government Relations Committee) and a twice past member of the Legal Symposium Task Force of the International Franchise Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising and The Advocates’ Society. He is also recognized as a leading lawyer in the Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada, Chambers CanadaThe Best Lawyers in Canada, and Who’s Who Legal. He was named a Legal Eagle in Franchise Times (2014–2021). Geoff also has his LLM in ADR and formerly taught franchise law at Queen’s University Law School. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986.
