Jonathan Colombo is a partner and Trademark Agent at Bereskin & Parr LLP. His practice covers all areas of trademark and copyright law, including the acquisition, exploitation and enforcement of these rights. He also has extensive litigation experience representing many national and international brands. Jonathan has represented large companies, including Staples, McDonald’s, Gap, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and Canada Goose, with cases relating to a six year interlocutory injunction, “reverse confusion”, branding, professional designations and trade dress. He is currently acting for CarGurus in a copyright proceeding, and for The Canadian Real Estate Association in a trademark infringement action. Jonathan has published several articles in the National Labour Review, the Intellectual Property Journal and the McGill Law Journal. He has also taught at the McGill University and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s (IPIC) advanced Managing Trademark Disputes course for five years. Jonathan is a member of the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Enforcement Committee and is a former member of the Parallel Imports Committee. Additionally, he is a past member of the Canadian Trademark Agents Board of Examiners.
