Jean-Philippe Mikus practises in the fields of intellectual property, information technology and entertainment law. He has extensive experience representing foreign and Canadian clients in matters involving trademarks, passing off, copyright, trade secrets, patents, Internet, ecommerce, digital entertainment, social media, IT systems, software and unfair competition. A Registered Trademark Agent acting before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), Jean-Philippe manages and provides strategic advice on extensive Canadian and international trademark portfolios. Jean-Philippe frequently acts on IP/IT issues in mergers & acquisitions and financings involving technological companies. He provides advice in the context of technology transfers and technological joint ventures. Jean-Philippe is a prolific author on copyright law, trademark law, patent law and information technology law and recently co-authored the first French-language Canadian book on trademarks aimed at the business community. He is the author of the Canadian chapter of Copyright Throughout the World published by Thomson Reuters. He frequently speaks at conferences on IP law matters at conferences. He was called to the Québec Bar in 1995.
