Laura Cooper is chair of Fasken Martineau’s Ontario Litigation Group and co-Chair of the Class Actions Group. An experienced commercial litigator, Laura has extensive experience in class actions in competition, securities, product liability, mass torts and employment law, including in respect of Part XXX.1 securities and common law claims, numerous cartel cases (including LCD, DRAM, SRAM, ODD, air cargo, packaged ice, vitamins and rubber chemicals) and claims related to environmental contamination, medical devices and insurance. She is experienced in complex alternate dispute resolution processes and represents clients in complex multi-jurisdictional proceedings and commercial disputes including with respect to shareholder issues, distributorship disputes and breach of fiduciary duties. Laura is the recipient of Lexpert Zenith Award 2013 celebrating women leaders in the legal profession who are role models for women in law. She is consistently recommended for her litigation expertise in leading legal publications. A frequent author and presenter on class actions, securities and competition litigation matters, Laura is a skills trainer at The Advocates’ Society. She has taught class actions course at Queen's University Faculty of Law. Laura was called to the Ontario Bar in 1994.
